Kosovo's female footballers have continued their dominance over Bulgaria's female footballers.
On Tuesday afternoon in Sofia, Kosovo won 3:1 against Bulgaria, as part of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers. Kosovo now has six wins and one draw in seven matches against Bulgaria.
It was the Bulgarians who took a 1-0 lead in the match in Sofia. Aleksandra Yaneva scored in the ninth minute.
In the 15th minute, Kosovo won a corner kick. Captain Erëleta Memeti took charge and shot directly at goal. And the ball found the target for 1:1. Memeti now has five goals in matches against Bulgaria.
Immediately in the 21st minute, "Dardanet" took a 2:1 lead. Defender Blerta Smaili scored with a beautiful header.

With the victory, Kosovo has strengthened its position in first place in Group C1 of the European qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup. In March, Kosovo won 6:0 against Gibraltar in Pristina and 1:0 against Croatia in Karlovci. It now has nine points from three matches. In four days, the Kosovo - Bulgaria match is in "Fadil Vokrri". With a victory in that match as well, Memeti and the other players would take a giant step towards first place in the group. Then they will only have to avoid defeat by Croatia in the home match, on June 5.
Direct qualification to the World Cup is not possible from League C. However, first place guarantees a place in the qualifying play-offs and advancement to League B for the next edition of the Nations League.
Qualifying for the playoffs is possible even from second place, but clearly the first place in the group is the goal of the "Dardans".
