The Netherlands scored a very important victory on Thursday night. With a 4:0 away win against Malta, the Netherlands took a big step towards qualifying for next year's World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
Cody Gakpo scored two penalties, in the 12th and 48th minutes, while the other two goals were scored by Tijani Reijnders in the 57th minute and Memphis Depay in the 93rd minute.
With the victory, the Netherlands strengthened their lead in Group G, three points ahead of Poland and Finland. Lithuania is in fourth place with three points, while Malta is in last place with two points.
