Rasmus Hojlund celebrated like Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday night after coming off the bench to score Denmark's winning goal against Portugal.
The Manchester United striker was calm in front of goal when he was assisted by Andreas Skov Olsen, and secured Denmark victory in the first quarter-final of the Nations League.
"It wasn't to make fun of him. I've always said that he was very important to me and my football career. You're playing against the best player in the world, my idol, and to score and win the match, it couldn't have gone better. To score against him and Portugal is a big thing. I went to see him in 2009 and he scored from a free kick. I've been a fan of his ever since," Hojlund told TV2 after the match.
Hojlund's goal in the 78th minute was the only one in Denmark's victory over Portugal.
The eliminated team will join Scotland, Greece and Belarus in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
