Haaland scores twice as Norway beats Italy

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has scored 16 goals and contributed two assists in eight matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. 

In total, Haaland has scored 55 goals in 48 appearances for Norway. He scored twice on Sunday night in Norway's 4-1 win over Italy. The match was played at the San Siro and was the final qualifier for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Haaland scored the goal for 2:1 in the 78th minute, and for 3:1 two minutes later.
He left the field in the 89th minute. 

Italy took the lead with Francesco Pio Esposito's goal in the 11th minute, while in the second half the Norwegians scored four goals. The first goal was scored by Antonio Nusa in the 63rd minute, then Haaland scored twice in the 78th and 80th minutes and Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 93rd minute for 4:1.
Norway have secured qualification for next year's World Cup as the top team in Group I with eight wins from as many matches played. Norway scored 36 goals, while conceding five.
Italy will appear in the qualifying play-offs in March.
