The story of Albert Dabiqaj's goals and assists on the European stage is linked to two clubs from Gjilan.
His four goals and two assists have had an impact on the result. Dabiqaj's journey to Europe began with Gjilan. On July 7, 2022, he scored in a 1:0 victory over Latvian Liepaja, in the first match of the first qualifying round of the Conference League. He continued with two assists on July 25, 2024, when Drita won 2:1 away against Icelandic Breidablik, in the second qualifying round of this competition.
He also scored a goal with Drita in the return match of the third qualifying round of the Conference, in a 3:1 victory over Audas of Latvia. But, Dabiqaj's most important goals were in the playoff against Differdange, in a 2:1 victory in Prishtina, on August 21 of this year. And the one on Thursday night on the road to Finnish KuPS, in distant Tampere.
Drita secured a point in their debut appearance in the Conference League. With the goal of the 29-year-old midfielder from Decani, Drita tied the score at 1:1.
"Each goal has its own importance and its own joy. All goals are important to me. Thanks to the work we do, the commitment, the sacrifice, everything is easier. We must continue to give everything of ourselves to achieve positive results," Dabiqaj declared on Friday for KOHĦA.
"I'm very happy that we had a good start, with a big point. Thanks to my teammates, the staff, I'm very happy with the team's performance. This gives us motivation and confidence that we can also succeed in European matches."
Seven points can be enough to advance to the knockout stages. At least that was the case in the last edition of the Conference League. Of the 36 teams, 24 advance to the knockout stages.
By the end of the campaign, Drita will also play against Omonia, Shkëndija Tetovo, AZ Alkmaar, Shelbourne and Rayo Vallecano.
Dabiqaj believes that Drita will return to the Super League, despite the bad start. "Our goal is the Super League even though we haven't had a good start. But, we will return."
Drita plays its next match in the Super League on Monday against Gjilan.
