Berat Gjimshiti and Granit Xhaka have taken their place in the best team of the 2023/2024 edition of the European League. The selection was made by the panel of UEFA experts, while the formation was published on Friday.
Gimšti won the Europa League with Atalanta on Wednesday. Gjimshiti was the captain in the final. The defender of the center is also the captain of Albania.
Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka's Bayer Leverkusen was defeated 3:0 in the final. Xhaka didn't shine in the final, but he played great games until that. And so it is included in the best team.
Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar is also in the best lineup. The defense consists of Roma's Gianluca Mancini, Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah and Gjimshiti. In the midfield, besides Xhaka, there are also Jeremie Frimpong of Leverkusen, Teun Koopmeiners of Atalanta and Matteo Ruggeri of Atalanta. Florian Wirtz of Leverkusen, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Marseille and Ademola Lookman of Atalanta are the strikers included in the best formation.
Aubameyang was named the best player of the season in the Europa League, while Leverkusen's Wirtzi was named the best young player.
