AFF withdraws support for Infantino

The Albanian Football Federation has withdrawn its support for Gianni Infantino's candidacy for another term at the head of FIFA. This was announced on Thursday afternoon by the Albanian Football Federation through a statement.

Several European federations have already withdrawn their support for Infantino over his plan to sell stakes in the World Cup and other events to private investors.
UEFA is strongly opposing Infantino. The president of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, is one of the vice-presidents of UEFA.
The AFF, like many other federations, had previously offered support for Infantino's candidacy.

"The Albanian Football Federation has sent an official letter to the FIFA Secretary General, Mattias Grafstrom, informing him of the revocation of its support for Gianni Infantino's candidacy for a new four-year term as FIFA President. The letter signed by the President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, states that, after further internal consultations and a careful review of the situation, the Albanian Football Federation has decided to withdraw the support previously given for Infantino's candidacy," the Albanian Football Federation's press release reads.

Wales was the first country to withdraw support for Swiss Infantino.

"This decision follows recent developments in international football and the positions expressed by European federations regarding FIFA's governance processes. The Albanian Football Federation remains committed to working closely with UEFA and its international partners to support football governance based on transparency, integrity and the best interest of the game," the Albanian Football Federation further wrote.
