Figo joins calls for Infantino's resignation

Luis Figo

Portuguese legend Luis Figo has joined calls for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign over the failed plan to sell World Cup shares to private investors.

Figo, regarded as one of the best players of his generation, has increased the pressure on Swiss Infantino.

"Today I join others in our game and call on Gianni Infantino to resign as FIFA president," Figo wrote.

"Infantino has disgraced the task he promised to elevate. He has lied, cheated and tried to do damage at the expense of the game he is supposed to serve," Figo wrote.
