Midfielder Bruno Fernandes has expressed his desire for him and his teammates to help Cristiano Ronaldo win the World Cup this summer.
The 41-year-old will set a record for his sixth appearance in a World Cup, the last in his major chapter as a footballer.
"Winning the World Cup in Ronaldo's last appearance would be great. I hope it happens, not only for Portugal, but for everything Cristiano has given to football and the world," said the Portuguese midfielder and Manchester United captain in an interview with Wayne Rooney on the BBC.
Ronaldo, considered one of the best players in history, has never won a World Cup. He has 143 goals with Portugal.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was part of Portugal's triumph at Euro 2016.
Ronaldo has won the Nations League twice with Portugal.

Portugal kick off Group K of the World Cup on June 17 against the Democratic Republic of Congo. The group also includes Uzbekistan and Colombia.
The World Cup starts on June 11 and ends on July 19. It is organized in Canada, Mexico and the USA.
