Kuwaiti Premier League side Kazma were delighted with their 7:1 win in a friendly against Egyptian side Telephonat Beni Suef. But then he discovered that the rival in that match was a group of amateur players that had no connection with the Egyptian team.
Organizers of the game at Kazma's training center in the Egyptian city of Alexandria have apologized.
They said they were misled, thinking the rival team represented the Beni Suef team, which plays in Egypt's third-tier football division.
The Egyptian Football Federation has said it will work with Kuwaiti team officials to investigate the incident.
Furthermore, the Egyptian Federation has emphasized that there will be no more friendly matches without its permission.
