Bratislava, March 26 – Kosovo made a historic comeback for a historic victory in Bratislava.
The Kosovo national football team won the match against Slovakia on Thursday night with a score of 4:3 to reach the final of the qualifying playoff for the 2026 World Cup.
The victory over Slovakia is the biggest achievement so far for Kosovo.

We must see in the next matches how to react, as it will not be easy to win if we concede easy goals," said Foda.
Foda knows that enthusiasm in Kosovo will grow even more after the result in Bratislava. But he stressed that Turkey is a strong opponent.
"The message is clear. We play the final on Tuesday, and there will be 13 spectators. If there were more capacity, maybe there would be 100. We are close to history, we are one match away, but we must bear in mind that Turkey is a strong team, they have strong individual players. We have emotional fans, but we must be careful and not allow ourselves to make mistakes. Success is only achieved by maintaining composure," the 59-year-old German emphasized.

Foda has said that there will be changes against Turkey. Kosovo will miss Lumbardh Dellova against the Turks.

Slovakia captain Stanislav Lobotka said that Kosovo won from their mistakes. He regretted Kosovo's elimination.
"We knew the way Kosovo would play and basically we gave them the goals. We created chances, but unnecessary mistakes cost us the match. I'm very sorry for that," Lobotka said.

The Kosovo flag has been placed on the field of the National Stadium in Bratislava where Slovakia and Kosovo will play the semi-final match of the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff tonight.

For Kosovo, it is the most important match so far. The "Dardans" are playing in the World Cup qualifying playoff for the first time.

Qualifying for the World Cup would reward Kosovo with a whopping 9 million euros
The World Cup qualification playoff is also of great importance from a financial perspective.

Police tighten security in Bratislava
The Slovak police will take care of maintaining order, peace and public safety before, during and after the match between Slovakia and Kosovo, as part of the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff.

"Traffic police, riot police and criminal police will monitor the situation during security measures and will be ready to respond operationally as it develops," the statement further reads.
Kosovo will have great support from the stands. Kosovo will receive five percent of the tickets. But it is not excluded that there will be many more fans supporting the "Dardans". So far, no incidents have been recorded.
The stadium in Bratislava has a capacity of 22,500 seats.
