Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has revealed why he decided to join reigning Italian champions Napoli.
De Bruyne made his debut with a goal on Saturday in the opening match of the 2025/26 Serie A season. Napoli began their title defense by defeating Sassuolo 2-0 away.
The 34-year-old De Bruyne, in an interview with "Corriere della Sera", stressed that before deciding on Napoli he had many other offers. One of the reasons why he chose the Neapolitans is that they play in the Champions League.
"It was the best option. There were many offers, but I chose the Italian champions. Napoli plays in the Champions League and Antonio Conte is a great coach. When you are young you decide for yourself, but now I have also asked my children. The eldest is 10 years old, it is an important stage in his growth", said the Belgian football star.
De Bruyne joined Napoli on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester City expired. He will be part of the club, which also includes Kosovo captain Amir Rrahmani, until 2027.
