Caviglia and Cambiaghi called up to Italy for the first time

Gennaro Gattuso

Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso has called up 27 players for the matches against Estonia and Israel.

Two of them, Fiorentina's Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Bologna's Nicolo Cambiaghi, have been invited for the first time.

The matches belong to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The "Azzurri" play against Estonia on October 11 in Tallinn, while they play against Israel in Udine on October 14.

Milan defender Matteo Gabbia and Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante have returned to Italy after a year.

Gattuso made his Italy debut in September, winning 5-0 against Estonia, and then secured a 5-4 victory over Israel on the road.

Italy is in second place in Group I with nine points, the same as Israel in third place. But the Italians have one less game to play. The group is led by Norway with 15 points. Fourth-placed Estonia has three points, while bottom-placed Moldova has no points.
