Bernard Berisha has left Akhmat Grozny after eight and a half years. The Chechen club, which competes in Russia's top flight, announced on Thursday that it has terminated Berisha's contract by mutual agreement.
Beriha became a legend of Akhmat. For the elite team of the Russian championship, Berisha played 199 matches, while scoring 28 goals and contributing with 23 assists. "Bernardi left an indelible mark on the history of our club. He was a true professional on the field, a leader, kind and charming in life. This is how the midfielder will be remembered by the fans, for whom Bernardi has become a favorite and idol over the years. Berisha joined Anzhi Makhachkala in January 2016. In December 2016, he moved to Terek Grozny, a club now known as Akhmat Grozny and based in Chechnya.
Berisha has played for Kosovo in the past and was an important player. He was also important for many years at Akhmat Grozny, where he recently had more limited space.
Berisha, 33, played for Besa of Peja in Kosovo. He also played for Besa of Kavaja and Skanderbeg of Korca.
With Korça he won two titles and a Super Cup.
