Benfica won the match that lasted over four hours in the Club World Cup.

The big Portuguese team thoroughly defeated New Zealand amateur team Auckland City 6:0 on Friday evening.

The second Group C match started at 18:00, but ended shortly after 22:00.

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the first half from the penalty spot in the eighth minute of added time. Then a storm was called and, according to safety protocols in the US, all events must be suspended for half an hour.

But the wait was nearly two hours long, until conditions allowed for the game.

After the teams returned to the field, Benfica dominated again and scored four more goals.

Vangelis Pavlidis, Renato Sanches, Leandro Barreiro with two goals and Di Maria with another penalty in the 98th minute, were the scorers of the Portuguese's deep victory.

From the 86th minute, Benfica's center back Adrian Bajrami entered the game.

Meanwhile, right-back Regont Murati remained on the bench for the New Zealand team. Murati played the entire first match against Bayern Munich.

Benfica has four points after two matches, while Auckland City is last without points, with 16 goals conceded and none scored.
