The 40-year-old Neuer is an icon of the great German club.

Neuer has been part of Bayern since 2011. He recently won the German championship. He has also won many other trophies.

"I thought long and hard before making the decision and now I'm very happy. In our goalkeeping team we stick together and try to keep raising the bar, constantly pushing each other and preparing as best as possible for the match," said the tall goalkeeper after extending his contract.

Bayern have extended the contract of goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, in addition to Neuer. Ulreich, like Neuer, has signed a new contract for another season.

"I'm extremely happy. I feel very good, I still have a great passion for football and I'm already very attached to Bayern. We have a fantastic team and a wonderful coaching staff, so it's a pleasure to work every day, especially with the goalkeeping group," said the 37-year-old Ulreich.
