Barcelona have decided to activate Nico Williams' buyout clause, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced on Wednesday.
Barcelona has already started negotiations and is willing to spend 58 million euros, which is the release clause of the Athletic Bilbao player.
But Barcelona may face problems registering him due to financial difficulties, just like they did last year with Dani Olmo.
Williams developed as a footballer at Athletic Bilbao.
Meanwhile, in the last season he was once again one of the best on his team.
He scored 11 goals and had seven assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.
Nico Williams has also had good performances for Spain. He has played 28 games and scored six goals.
He won the European Championship with Spain last year, while with Bilbao he is the winner of the Spanish Cup in the 2023-24 edition.
