Jasir Asani has scored six goals for Albania. One of the goals Asani scored against Poland, Albania's opponent in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup playoff.
Asani scored against Poland in a 2:0 win in Tirana on September 10, 2023. He hopes to score again against Poland on March 26 in Warsaw.
"There are emotions in every match and when you score a goal against a team like Poland, you never forget it. I experienced the greatest emotions when I scored the goal. I hope to score a goal against Poland again," Asani said for the Albanian Football Federation.
He highly praised the Polish representative team, but says that Albania has its chances of winning against the Poles.
"Poland has good players, but we also have players who play in good championships. I hope we don't have any injuries and are 100% ready. It will be a difficult match, but we have to go to win. With everyone's help we can do it. We defeated them at home and we have to be maximally focused on the match", said Asani.
Asani plays for Esteghlal, one of the biggest teams in Iran. Three days after the war began, he left the Middle Eastern country.
