There are three different decisions taken by the dispute resolution body of the world football body (FIFA), which show that Adana Demirspor has been ordered to pay 450 thousand euros to Elfsborg star Arbër Zeneli. This was reported on Thursday by the Swedish media "fotbollskanalen.se".
The Turkish club had the opportunity to appeal the decisions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but they did not do so. CAS confirmed this in an email to the Swedish media outlet. Therefore, Zeneli is entitled to the aforementioned financial benefit.
30-year-old Zeneli terminated his contract with Adana Demirspor on January 18 last year after non-payment of wages. And he complained to FIFA about the salary issue.
The move to Elfsborg was delayed due to the situation with Adana Demirspor. However, on March 20, the Swedish and Turkish clubs agreed on a payment plan that would resolve the second dispute – and the next day, March 21, Zeneli was presented by Elfsborg.
In FIFA's decisions obtained by "fotballskanalen", it appears that the agreement was for the Turkish club to pay the Kosovar a total of 650 thousand euros net, but divided into several salaries between May and November of last year.
But Adana Demirspor did not fulfill that agreement either. When the money was not transferred to Zenel's account, he chose to take the matter to FIFA again and had a new payment plan, which now entitles him to 450 thousand euros for a total of five different salaries that were not paid by Adana Demirspor.
It is not known whether Zeneli has received the remaining 200 thousand euros which should have been transferred to his account by November 30.
The winger had left Reims in France to join Turkey's elite club, Adana Demirspor, in early September 2023.
Zeneli took his first steps in football precisely in the Elfsborg club. He left Sweden in January 2016 to continue his career in the Netherlands, namely at the Heerenveen club.
In January 2019, he took another step in his career by joining Reims of the French Ligue 1. In France, he faced injuries, while he also lost his place in Kosovo. He scored nine goals for Kosovo in 33 matches. Before joining Kosovo, Zeneli played for Sweden's chain teams.
