After 51 appearances, Amir Abrashi was given a farewell ceremony as an Albanian player on Sunday. Abrashi spoke about the emotions he experienced at the “Air Albania” stadium in Tirana. He was greeted before the start of the Albania – England match, which was the last qualifier for next year’s World Cup. “When all the fans in the stadium stood up and cheered me, I suddenly got very emotional. It hits you at that moment. Your time is really over and a wonderful chapter is closing,” Abrashi told “Blick” on Monday.
Abrashi was part of the National Team in two European Championships.
At Euro 2016, he completed all three group stage matches. Meanwhile, at Euro 2024, he was only a substitute.
The 35-year-old last appeared for Albania on November 16th of last year in a goalless draw with the Czech Republic. He has not been called up this year and will not be called up again.
