Lionel Messi

More than an hour before the first match in the Copa America started, the fans started chanting "Messi, Messi". And the Argentine superstar left his mark in Argentina's 2-0 win over Canada on Friday in Atlanta, USA. The match took place in the presence of 70 spectators.

Messi prepared both goals while playing his 35th game in the Copa America, which is a record. His pass set up Julian Alvarez's goal in the 49th minute, while he assisted Lautaro Martinez in the 89th minute. He now has 18 assists in Copa America history.

"You need someone like Messi to make that pass", said Argentina's coach, Lionel Scaloni.

Messi has 108 goals with Argentina, although he had some good chances.

The match was the last for Messi as a 36-year-old. He turns 37 on Monday, while Argentina play Chile the day before.
