Gruda wins another chance to convince Nagelmsanni, Muller celebrates

Brian Gruda

Brian Gruda and Rocco Reitz will stay longer with the German national team. This is what the German Football Federation announced on Thursday. The two players of Germany's U21 team will be available to the selector of the German national team, Julian Nagelsmann, until after the friendly match against Greece on June 7. On June 7, Nagelsmann and the other selectors must submit the final list for "Euro 2024".

"Mainz's Gruda and Borussia Moenchengladbach's Reitz were originally supposed to train with Germany's senior team until the end of the preparatory phase for the European Championship, that is until Friday. In Blankenhain, the U21 national team players were also active away from the field: On Tuesday, Gruda e Reitz surprised around 150 students in a soccer tournament at the state school in Blankenhain," the German Football Association said in a statement.

"Bild" also wrote that Gruda left a good impression on Nagelsmann.

"Both players of the U21 team are making a good impression in training. Coach Julian Nagelsmann has already said that if there are injuries in the team, they also have a chance to win for the European tournament", writes the big German newspaper.

Nagelsmann also spoke about Gruda.

"I hope that he will show the necessary self-confidence with us and not hide," said Nagelsmann, Bild reports.

Even Thomas Muller has sympathy for Gruda.

"When you look at it, you see that there is something special. It remains for him to show determination", said Muller, among other things, at the press conference.

Muller had exchanged jerseys with Gruda after Bayern's game against Mainz.

"I took his jersey then and consciously made it public because I thought he played well," Muller said.

The 19-year-old has scored four goals and assisted three times in 28 games in the Bundesliga.

He has a contract with Mainz until 2026. Gruda's card is valued at around 20 million euros.

Gruda has played seven games for Hopes of Germany in seven appearances. He is considered to have the potential to be a regular player in the future even in Germany's senior team.
