Barça may ask for a replay because of Yamal's "goal".

Barcelona

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, said on Monday that he will not rule out taking legal measures for Lamime Yamali's "phantom goal" against Real Madrid.

Teenager Yamal thought he had put Barcelona 3-2 ahead at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, but Real Madrid goalkeeper Andiy Lunin, who was inside the goal line, cleared the ball away.

The guests from Barcelona were convinced that the ball had crossed the goal line. But the referee judged that the ball had not crossed the goal line. Without goal-line technology in La Liga, the VAR assistant could not prove this.

Barça eventually lost 3:2, after Jude Bellingham's goal in extra time.

Laporta has said that the club will request the audio and video recordings from the Technical Committee of Referees in the Spanish federation, to determine if the goal should have been conceded.

"After the documentation has been analyzed, if the club realizes that a mistake has been made in reviewing the incident, we will take all available measures to change the situation, without excluding any necessary legal action," said Laporta.

He added that if Barcelona's analysis confirms that the goal was legal, "the club does not exclude the request that the match be played again, as happened in another match in Europe due to the error in VAR".

Laporta has referred to a match in the Belgian championship. The Belgian Pro League match between Anderlecht and Genk was replayed in full due to a VAR error.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has called for his side's Premier League clash with Tottenham to be replayed after Luis Diaz's goal was wrongly disallowed earlier this season.

"We understand the difficulties that match officials face. But for this reason there are tools such as VAR, to help the race to be correct and not the other way around", Laporta emphasized.

Barcelona coach Xavi said it is a shame that goal-line technology is used in other countries, such as in England's Premier League, but is not available in Spain's La Liga.

The goalkeeper of Barcelona, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, said that this fact is "shameful for football".

Andres Christensen scored the first goal for Barcelona, before Vinicius Jr equalized at 1:1 from the penalty spot.

Fermin Lopez put Barca ahead again, but Lucas Vazquez scored immediately. Then, in overtime, Bellingham took the stage.

Real Madrid has almost secured the title of champion in Spain. It is the leader with a full 11 points more than Barcelona.
