The Turkish Super League in football will appoint foreign referees in VAR for decisive matches until the end of the season. This was announced by the Turkish Football Federation on Friday.
The Super League competition has been marred by violence and questionable refereeing decisions in recent months. In December a referee was punched by a club president. Fenerbahçe has also expressed concern about the work of the referees, in the strong competition for the title.
Fenerbahçe is second in the table. There are two points less than Galatasaray.
"As a result of the Turkish Federation's negotiations with UEFA and five European federations, foreign VAR referees will be appointed for the matches from the 32nd round until the end of the championship," the Turkish federation announced.
Assistant referees in VAR will be from Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal.
