The judges of the King's Cup final evoke euphoria in Mallorca and Muriqi

Jose Luis Munuera Montero will be the main referee of the Copa del Rey final match between Athletic Bilbao and Mallorca. 

Eduardo Prieto Iglesias will be in the VAR room. This pair of referees has sparked euphoria in Mallorca ahead of the Copa del Rey final which takes place at the weekend. Mallorca has scored victories on two occasions when this duo was in charge of the match, while its main striker, Vedat Muriqi, has scored two goals in those encounters.  

The striker of Kosovo with Mallorca aims to reap success in the final of the competition. Athletic Bilbao - Mallorca is played on Saturday at 22:00, at the "La Cartuja" stadium in Sevilla. 

The couple Munuera Montero and Prieto Iglesias were referees in the match Celta - Mallorca that took place at the "Balaidos" stadium on September 16 last year. Mallorca had won with the result 1:0, while the tall Muriqi had scored the only goal in the match in the 85th minute. 

Muriqi scored the winning goal in the first minute of extra time in the victory on February 11 of this year. Mallorca had won at home with the result 2:1 against Rayo Vallecano. The 29-year-old Muriqi is currently in good form with five goals and two assists in all competitions.  

In total, referee Munuera Montero has officiated at Mallorca matches six times. Mallorca has a balance of four wins and two losses, from Barcelona in 2019 and from Elche with the result 1:0. 

Even Athletic Bilbao has a balance of two victories when this duo has referred. 2:0 defeated Osasuna on the trip, while 2:1 won against Real Sociedad in the Basque derby. 

Bilbao have not lost with him since September 2021 when they were defeated 2:1 by Rayo Vallecano. 

Mallorca is aiming for the second trophy in the club's history. 

Coach Javier Aguirre's men have excelled in this edition of the Copa del Rey, knocking out Girona and Real Sociedad along the way. 

However, Mallorca has not won the King's Cup since the 2002/2003 edition, when it was the only time they triumphed. At that time, Mallorca had won 3:0 against Recreativo Huelva, while Samuel Eto'o and Walter Pandiani were also in the team. 

For Mallorca it will be the fourth final of the King's Cup. In the 1997/98 edition, they were defeated by Barcelona, ​​while in the 1990/91 edition, they lost to Atletico Madrid. 

The winner of this competition will qualify for the group stage for the next edition of the Europa League.
