"Archived Archive" calls for peace

At first reading, the title sounds paradoxical. Paradoxical is the fading of the memories of the war, its testimonies. But the "Archived Archive" is a counterpoint. The now world-famous choir, "Siparantum", through this work, does the opposite: it gives voice to the experiences of war and not only. It culminates in peace and this is its powerful contrast.

The work composed by Memli Kelmendi, at the same time conductor and founder of the Choir, was performed on Saturday at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Pejë - "Archive" which, since the summer of last year, takes place in the elementary and lower secondary schools. Vaso Pashë Shkodrani". Kelmendi has considered that the work remains one of the most popular and unique.

"The work contains elements of our Archive, that's why we called it the 'Archived Archive' with the idea that inside it you can hear the suffering our people went through over the centuries and especially during the last war. We have tried to express it through the white paper which we have used as a symbol of peace, vocals, elegy, calls for peace and dedication to those killed in the war".

The members of "Siparantum" - the choir of world awards - as they call on memory, break down the resilience of the human spirit. In essence, the work conveys messages of peace.

"We were affected by this performance, however little, because we know from history, however little, what happened from the war in Kosovo, and we had that part where we sought peace in our work", stated Kujtesa Mimanaj.

The work is of a contemporary style and contains choreographic elements within it, which give it a different approach than those usually given by such formations. "Siparantumi" has long been proven to be unique and for this it has received well-known international awards.

Choir Shaban Behramaj said that this work has a special mission and for its realization they gave their best.

"Without a doubt that an extraordinary work has been done for which we are very happy to be a part of it and to have had the opportunity to present, through the art of singing, what the author wanted to present to the participating public. A work that presents the experiences of war and the arrival of peace in our country".

In addition to the performance, on Saturday the catalog of the exhibition "Silence Took a Hold of the Rooms", by the artist Artan Hajrullahu, with which the Institute of Contemporary Art "Arkiv" was inaugurated on July 23 of last year, which takes place in the former - the object of the primary and lower secondary school "Vaso Pashë Shkodrani" in Pejë. The realization of this project was the initiative of the well-known artist, Sislej Xhafa, supported by the municipal authorities.
