It is more than a theater festival. "Prizren Festi" has received the attention of the artistic and cultural scene since the first editions. Confirmation of this was the audience of hundreds of people at the opening and exceeding the capacities in the cinema "Lumbardhi" under the open sky.
The international outdoor theater festival, unlike the previous two editions, this time opened with an Albanian performance. "The Visit" by the English author George Wells, under the direction of the Italian Davide Iodice, the production of the theater "Migjeni" in Shkodra has raised the curtain on the marathon of shows full of messages.
The artistic director of the "Prizren Fest" festival, Adrian Morina, said that this is a symbol of dedication, preserving and promoting the values of the Albanian theater.
"The opening of the 'PrizrenFest' festival with an Albanian performance is very important for us as it serves as a powerful bridge to connect our theatrical world with the international one and this choice of ours symbolizes the commitment to preserve and promote the rich theatrical heritage Albanian".
He warned the public about unique and unforgettable experiences during the days of the festival.
"In this open environment, in freedom, where the walls are replaced by the sky and the stage is surrounded by history and nature, the theater will give us a unique, unforgettable experience for everyone. Theater is a medium that speaks to everyone, for everyone, comes from everyone. It has existed before us and will exist eternally. Long live the theater".
A modest opening ceremony preceded the show. The mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj, said that "PrizrenFesti" as a theater festival completes the mosaic of cultural events in this city.
"Prizreni is confirming that it is the center of the cultural life of Kosovo. Theater is like a manifestation of creativity. There's a lot of talent here. The international festival of theaters has completed the mosaic that was perhaps missing in the cultural life in Prizren. Along with festivals like 'DokuFest', 'RockFest' and others, Prizren is becoming a center of cultural life. Through the power of art, we promote the city and Kosovo".
The man trapped in this world, prone to reflect the evil in a completely new and unusual being, is the main word. He enters their lives completely clean, but anti-values affect his transformation.
Tension is the intro of the show. The audience is immediately introduced to the main character, the Angel who speaks to the new and unknown world among people. He lives in man's dream world as a being in contrast to him. His world is one where there is no rest, because there is no fatigue, it is not noticed because there is no pain, and there is no joy because there is no sadness.
Very poetic was the play dramatized with the text of the English writer George Wells. Actors were often also narrators.
The angel is slowly demonized. The cloak of bullying begins to cover the special creature engulfed by human paranoia. Fritz Selmani, who played the role, said that each of the actors in the show gives messages.
"The angel receives many messages. It comes very clean and leaves very dirty. Being human hurts. The angel in this case can be a mirror of every person. Perhaps there are moments when many people may have felt like an angel at certain stages of life. I think that this show tried to give messages, without which each character came with messages, represented a certain social group".
In the show, there is only one person who understands the main characters. It is considered taken. Actor Nikolin Ferketa, who plays this role, said that the show gives messages about how we distance people from ourselves.
"My role has been that of a fool, a person with different abilities and only this one understands the angel in truth, his symbolism as a person different from him. It is a character for the man who is rarely met but rarely understood. It has a different character that no one else can have, but it feels very powerful. The message of this show is how we push people away. It is such a dirty world with many anti-values inside and people's values are undone, such as spiritual, moral and physical ones".
The show premiered last year on October 26 in Shkodër. At the Albanian theater festival "Moisiu" was a triple winner, receiving awards: Best Show, Best Set Design and Best Music.
"The visit" is only a fragment of the festival that will last until July 28. There are 22 shows for eight days and a long list of guests from the country and the world who will bring the values of performing arts. Among them is the actress Marie-Christine Barrault, nominated for an "Oscar", who will go on stage for the show "Journey to Zurich".
