UEFA opens investigation into events at Wembley

UEFA has launched disciplinary proceedings for the events surrounding the Euro 2020 final, including the actions of England fans in and around Wembley Stadium.

The fans were beaten by the security guards and the police, while they tried to get inside.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham has apologized to legitimate fans who were affected by the chaos and said the security team had never seen anything like it.

The FA has been charged with four counts of fan behavior at Sunday's final. They relate to disturbances caused during the singing of the anthem, entering the field, throwing objects and lighting a firework, reports the BBC.

"An ethics and discipline inspector has been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation into events involving supporters who were in and around the stadium," UEFA announced.
