The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) has published data regarding export and import flows for September of this year, according to which exports cover imports by only 14,1%.
According to ASK, data from foreign trade in goods in Kosovo show a trade deficit of 21,2% in September 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, "or in the amount of 520,5 million euros, compared to the deficit of 429,4 million euros in 2024."
"The export of goods in September 2025 was worth 85,8 million euros, while imports were worth 606,2 million euros, which is an increase of 10,7% for exports, as well as an increase of 19,6% for imports, compared to the same period in 2024," the ASK announcement states.
According to data on the main export groups: 19,1% are base metals and articles thereof; 12,5% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof; 12,4% are mineral products; 11,5% are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco; 9,5% are miscellaneous manufactured articles; 7,7% are plant products.
While according to the data of the main import groups: 14,6% are mineral products; 11,3% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment; 11,3% are basic metals and articles thereof; 11,2% are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco; 10,0% are means of transport.
KAS has also published data regarding Kosovo's exports and imports to EU countries.
"Kosovo's exports to EU countries reached 28,0 million euros, or about 32,7% of total exports, with an increase of 2,6%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (11,5%), Italy (2,9), the Netherlands (2,6%), etc. Kosovo's imports from EU countries were about 249,4 million euros, or 41,1% of total imports, with an increase of 17,3%. Imports with the highest participation were from: Germany (12,7%), Italy (6,1%), Poland (3,4%), etc.," the announcement states.
Data regarding Kosovo's exports and imports with CEFTA countries are also presented.
"Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries reached 40,6 million Euros, or 47,4% of total exports, with an increase of 21,4%. Main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (21,4%), North Macedonia (11,0%), Serbia (8,4%), Montenegro (4,8%), etc. Imports from CEFTA countries reached 87,8 million Euros, or 14,5% of total imports, with an increase of 34,4%. Countries with the highest import participation were: North Macedonia (5,6%), Albania (3,6%), Serbia (3,5%)", the announcement states.

Exports in June covered imports by only 15%
According to ASK, Kosovo's exports to other countries reached 17,1 million euros, or 19,9%.
"The most important export partners of these countries were: Switzerland (11,0%) and Turkey (3,7%)," the announcement states.
Meanwhile, Kosovo's imports from other countries reached 269,0 million euros, or 44,4%. "The countries with the highest import participation in this group were: China (15,6%) and Turkey (12,8%)," the announcement states.
