Consumer prices in September increased by 7.8 percent compared to September last year.
Meanwhile, compared to August of this year, according to the Harmonized Consumer Price Index, published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, consumer prices have increased by 0.2 percent.
Citizens are feeling the price increases directly in their family budgets.
Some of them say that the rise in the price of basic products is also related to, as they say, the dysfunction of institutions and the lack of measures to curb price increases.
"Until now we have had neither a state nor a government, of course. Prices have gone up as they wanted. I hope the government is doing something from now on, increasing the salaries of pensioners and letting prices fall a little, because that's how it is. Shame on you," said Nezir Ukaj, a citizen.
Another citizen, Mustaf Vitija, also expressed his criticism.

"What is a salary or pension, he can't even get by on dry bread, but now work has stopped everywhere, there are no jobs to be had. The government is now taking measures for pensions as well," he said.
This annual price increase, according to ASK, was mainly influenced by the increase in transportation prices, which is 23,9 percent.
Economist Shkumbin Misini estimates that changing fiscal policies is an urgent need for the Kosovo market.
"This increase shows that every day the population of Kosovo is becoming even more impoverished. The change is urgent in changing fiscal policies. What does changing fiscal policies include? Changing fiscal policies includes removing VAT on basic products and any excise that may be on basic products. The second is for farmers to have more favorable policies to plant their basic products. The third, products that are local would have been at a slightly cheaper price and consumers would have gone and bought those products," said Misini.
An increase in prices was recorded in all categories, with the exception of the group: educational services, where a decrease of 0.3 percent was recorded.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation has opened the procedure for the selection of three external members of the Independent Board, provided for by Law No. 10/L-030 on temporary measures for essential products in special cases of market destabilization.
The Board will assess whether there is market destabilization and, in such cases, may take temporary measures for basic products, including setting maximum prices and trading margins.
KOHA last Wednesday sent questions to MINTI, seeking clarification on what measures are expected to be taken in the face of price increases, as well as whether the possibility of reducing or eliminating VAT for some products is being considered, but until the publication of the text, the Ministry has not received a response.
