Bombings in Gaza destroy over 100 monuments of importance to global history

Israel's repeated airstrikes in Gaza have destroyed more than 100 cultural monuments and historical sites, according to a preliminary report by the Catalan NGO Heritage for Peace.

The airstrikes, which followed an October 7 Hamas attack that killed 1.400 Israelis and took 240 hostages, have "destroyed or damaged" roughly 45 percent of housing in Gaza, leading to what the United Nations has called a "humanitarian disaster".
