Cristiano Ronaldo's World Cup performance continues to spark controversy. Most recently, Brazilian icon Ronaldo Nazario, known as the Phenomenon, said that the Portuguese has reached a point where his body can no longer handle the desire to compete at the highest level.
"Of course, the body tells you that you can't go on anymore. I think Cristiano and Neymar have reached this point of relationship between themselves and their bodies. The battle with the body is very difficult to win," Ronaldo told ESPN Brasil.
The iconic Brazilian striker has said that Cristiano Ronaldo still has the quality to play in Saudi Arabia, but believes that the demands for the World Cup are on another level.
"He probably still has the level to play in Saudi Arabia. But to play in the World Cup we understand that it is much more difficult. The level is much higher," Ronaldo said.
"With all our passion, our love for football and our desire to always play, I think that in the end our body decides for us. I don't play because the brain works in a way that the body can't cope with."
