Egypt coach says Argentina is favored to win the World Cup
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has made another strong statement about the developments in the match against Argentina. The Egyptians believe that they were greatly harmed by the referee.
Argentina won 3:2 and advanced to the quarterfinals. There were some questionable situations.
"Life is unfair. The world is unfair. Okay, but I guess there's no justice in sports? I'm not convinced by this result and the way things went in this match," Hassan said at a press conference.
"The referee was unfair. God is enough for me and he will fix things. The referee ruined the efforts of an entire country. The cup is headed towards Argentina. We have not seen respect or fair play. A penalty was disallowed and a second incident that should have been checked for a penalty for us was not even looked at by VAR. The second goal was disallowed, strangely, for whatever reason. It seems there was pressure from the Argentine side on the referee that brought this about," the Egypt coach stressed.
Messi speaks after brilliance: This group never gives up
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has spoken out after Argentina advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Cup. He praised the character of the Argentine players.
"It's not easy to come back after you're losing 2-0. But as I always say, this group never gives up and keeps trying until the end. Luckily we scored," Messi said after the match.
He scored one goal and assisted once in Argentina's 3-2 victory over Egypt.
"We suffered a lot again, but this is the World Cup. All the matches are very difficult, so I'm very happy," Messi added.

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has reacted sharply after his team's defeat to Argentina at the World Cup, claiming that his team was treated unfairly.
In his post-match statement, Hassan said that Egypt suffered injustice and that the result was influenced by "internal" and "external" factors.
"Why is there no justice in sports? In football? I don't want to try to put it in nice words. Today we have been wronged. We have suffered injustice," he declared.
The Egyptian coach also revealed that his country's federation had objected to the selection of French referee François Letexier for this match.
"We had opposed the selection of such a judge," Hassan said.
He added that he will no longer attend any matches in the tournament, as a form of protest against what he describes as a lack of justice.
"It's my way of speaking and raising my voice. I won't watch a minute of the rest of this World Cup," the Egypt coach stressed.

Julian Alvarez has said that "there are no more words to describe Lionel Messi."
He said they are enjoying every moment of him on the field.

He is a legend and the best player in the world and in history. He is a Phenomenon," Alvarez said after Argentina's 3-2 victory over Egypt.
Messi sets record against Egypt
Earlier in the tournament, Lionel Messi became the all-time leading scorer at the World Cup. Now, after Argentina's incredible 3-2 win over Egypt, Messi has become the player with the most assists at the World Cup.
Messi has 21 goals in World Cup history and nine assists, setting a record. Argentina legend Diego Maradona previously held the record with eight assists.

Egypt striker Mostafa Zico has lashed out at referee François Letexier, blaming him for their elimination from the World Cup after their 3-2 defeat to Argentina.
Zico has said that the match was rigged as the referee harmed them from the start.
"The referee was not good, he was unfair. His unfairness was clear. He hurt us from the beginning of the match. He didn't want us to win. It was a rigged match," Zico said as he left the field.
"I really wanted to bring joy to them (the fans), but I apologize. It didn't happen. It wasn't our fault. That referee... It seems like this match was rigged. We were winning 2-0 and he kept attacking us. Congratulations to Argentina for another World Cup, apparently," Zico said with irony.
