Germany suffered a major blow with the injury to rising star Lennart Karl, who has already left the World Cup training camp.
The 18-year-old was injured in Germany's final training session before the friendly match against the USA. Karl's place was taken by Assan Ouedraogo, who plays for Leipzig.
Germany teammate Deniz Undav has given details about how Karl's injury happened. He suffered a muscle injury.
"It happened during a shot, right in the last action of the last training session. When he touched that part, we realized that something was wrong. When the results came in, of course we felt sorry for him. He is a high-level player and has a bright future. These things happen while we wish him the best," Undav stated, among other things, for "Sky".
Karl played 40 games with Bayern this season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
