Parents in Latin America are naming their babies after World Cup stars. Hundreds of newborns in Peru have been named after Erling Haaland. Meanwhile, there are about 30 children named after Lionel Messi, the same number after Neymar, and another 30 named after Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Haaland is now Peruvian too," said Ivan Torres from Peru's registration center.
Mundial is the name of a newborn baby in this country.
A baby girl's birth certificate has gone viral in Mexico. Her name is Quinona Ysisidra Morita Haaland Guevara, a reference to Mexican stars Julian Quinones and Gilberto Mora, as well as the Norwegian star.
In Argentina, Enzo, Emiliano and Lionel topped the list of most popular names for boys in the province of Salta a week before the final. Local authorities said the names were related to the World Cup.
Since Maradona's "Hand of God" goal in 1986, footballers' names have become a trend in Latin America.
