Moroccan embassy in France complains about flag burning

Moroccan Embassy

The Moroccan embassy in France has filed a complaint after a Moroccan flag was "torn, burned and publicly torn" on Saturday near Paris by individuals "of Algerian origin", L'Equipe reports.

This incident reportedly occurred after Morocco qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

"We strongly condemn the serious and shameful incidents that occurred on the evening of July 4," the Moroccan embassy said in a statement on Monday.

According to Moroccan authorities, the incident occurred after Morocco's 3-0 victory over Canada in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
