Julian Alvarez found form in the last match against Switzerland and scored a superb goal for Argentina's 3-1 victory in extra time to advance to the World Cup semi-finals.
"Daily Mail" wrote a long article about the Atletico Madrid striker on Wednesday, a few hours before the semi-final between England and Argentina which starts at 21:00 PM.
He wrote that Alvarez has better statistics than Lionel Messi in semi-final matches.
The 26-year-old Alvarez has five goals in the knockout stages of the World Cup, the same number as Maradona, and two fewer than Messi.
But he is more successful than the Argentine superstar in the semi-finals of major tournaments. He scored two goals in the 2022 World Cup semi-final against Croatia in a 3-0 victory, one in the Copa America semi-final, one in the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal and another in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona.
