Massive fire near Split, Croatia

A large fire broke out on Monday morning in the coastal village of Jesenice near Split in Croatia.

The flames have reached people's homes, forcing authorities to close the main Adriatic road from Omis to Split, AP reports.

According to the Croatian fire department, the flames have spread up to three kilometers and several residents have been evacuated from the area.

About 150 firefighters have been sent to the scene, along with air support from 3 Canadair aircraft.
