Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his Christmas message, asked his people to remain strong in the face of Russian attacks.
In a speech on Saturday, he said that freedom comes at a high price, but slavery comes at an even higher price, the BBC reported.
Describing Russia as a terrorist country, Zelensky accused Russian troops of "killing for the sake of intimidation and pleasure".
"We endured at the beginning of the war. We endured attacks, threats, nuclear blackmail, terror, missile attacks. Let's endure this winter because we know what we are fighting for. We will celebrate our holidays! As always. We will smile and love to be happy. As always. We will not wait for a miracle. After all, we create it ourselves," said Zelensky.
In a social media post, he showed photos of streets littered with bodies and burning cars, saying "the world needs to see and understand what absolute evil we are fighting".
Russia's missile and drone attacks have left millions of Ukrainians without power, heat and running water.
As officials have announced, during Saturday, Russian airstrikes killed 10 people in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.

Regional authorities said another 68 people were injured, as they appealed to local residents to urgently donate blood.
Kherson, the only regional capital occupied by Russia since it launched its full occupation on February 24, was liberated from Ukraine last month.
