The Berlin Police Department has announced that the suspect in yesterday's attack on the Berlin Pride Parade has been shot dead, reports the BBC. The suspect, Abdul Balout, crashed a van into a crowd of people and then stabbed several people. One woman was killed and 29 others were injured.
Ballout, 21, was a German citizen of Lebanese origin and was known to police as someone who had attempted to join the Islamic State.
Berlin police announced that he was shot in Spandau at around 18:00 p.m. local time. Police said the suspect had attempted to attack officers with a knife and was neutralized.
