The Israeli army attacks Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters

The Israeli military says it has carried out an attack on a Hezbollah intelligence headquarters in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

"Earlier this morning, the IAF (Israeli air force) carried out an attack based on a command center of Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters and an underground weapons workshop in Beirut," the army said in a statement.

She added that several steps were taken to "reduce the possibility of civilian casualties", including "issuing advance warnings to residents".

The military also said its air force killed Al-Haj Abbas Salama, whom it described as a senior commander on Hezbollah's southern front, and Rada Abbas Awada and Ahmad Ali Hussein.

According to the military, Awada was a senior Hezbollah communications expert, while Hussein served as the head of a weapons production unit.
