A missing American crew member whose fighter jet was shot down over Iran has been rescued by US forces, President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Sunday morning.
"We got it! My fellow Americans, over the past few hours, the United States Military conducted one of the most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history for one of our extraordinary aircrew officers, who is also a highly respected Colonel, and whom I am thrilled to report is now safe and well," Trump wrote.
He added that the service member "suffered injuries, but will be OK."
The high-risk search began Friday after an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet crashed in Iran.
Another crew member was rescued shortly after the crash and is receiving medical attention, CNN reported.
