Ukraine has imposed sanctions on foreign suppliers of components for Russian missiles and drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that he had approved punitive measures against several foreign manufacturers that supply key parts for Russian drones and missiles used against Ukraine.
In a post on the X platform, Zelensky said that the production of this weaponry would be impossible without critical foreign components, which Russia continues to procure by circumventing international sanctions. He emphasized that the new sanctions target precisely these companies, including suppliers of components, as well as manufacturers of missiles and drones, and that the corresponding decisions have already been signed.
According to two decrees published by the Ukrainian presidency, the sanctions list includes several Chinese companies, as well as companies from the former Soviet space, the United Arab Emirates and Panama. The measures come at a time when Russia has significantly increased the intensity and number of missile and drone attacks on Ukraine, despite talks to end the four-year war.
Zelensky said that in the past week alone, Russia has launched over 2.000 attack drones, 1.200 guided aerial bombs and 116 missiles of various types against Ukrainian cities and villages. Attacks on power plants and substations have left entire regions without electricity and heating, while in the capital Kiev, power outages have lasted up to 20 hours.
The Ukrainian president added that he has also imposed sanctions on the Russian financial sector and institutions that support the Russian cryptocurrency market and digital mining activities.
