The first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, arrived in Belgrade on Sunday, in a first visit of a high-ranking Ukrainian personality to Serbia since the Russian aggression began in 2022.
Reuters has reported that the wife of President Volodymyr Zelensky was accompanied by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and her Serbian counterpart Tamara Vucic on a visit to the medieval town and fortress of Kalemegdan.
She also participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between universities in Belgrade and Kiev.
The first lady signed an agreement with the officials of a country that has refused to condemn the Russian aggression in Ukraine, except that in some reports they have stated that they "condemn Russia's actions".
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has met three times with the Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, since 2022 in external international forums, and most recently in a regional meeting in Tirana.
President Vučić met with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, a few days ago. The new government in Belgrade includes a pro-Russian deputy minister, Nenad Popovic.
