Turkey has reacted to Israeli attacks on Gaza, saying it marks a "new phase in the politics of genocide."
Turkey's Foreign Ministry said the state of Israel committed a massacre against the hundreds of Palestinians who were killed in Tuesday's attacks, adding that Netanyahu's government "trespassed on humanity by violating international law."
"The massacre of hundreds of Palestinians in Israel's attacks on Gaza this morning shows that the Netanyahu government's genocidal policy has entered a new phase. Israel challenges humanity through violations of international law and universal values in the most serious form. At a time when efforts to achieve global peace and stability are increasing, the aggression displayed by the Israeli government threatens the future of the region. It is unacceptable that Israel is causing a new spiral of violence," the response said, TheGuardian reported.
Turkish authorities called on the international community to take a decisive stance towards Israel "to ensure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid."
"As Turkey, we reiterate our unwavering support for the just cause of the Palestinian people and reaffirm our commitment to contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region," the response further said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been an opponent of Israel's war in Gaza. He has previously accused Israel of genocide and called on international courts to convict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
