The United States and Iran have aligned their positions on the final agreement and, according to mediators, the framework of a peace agreement has already been agreed upon. And while US President Donald Trump and mediator Pakistan expect its signing very soon, Iran has expressed reservations.
US President Donald Trump has said a peace deal with Iran is close. Trump said he expects the signing to take place on Sunday, signaling rapid progress in negotiations aimed at ending the three-year conflict in the Middle East.
"The agreement is scheduled to be signed tomorrow and immediately after its signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all," Trump wrote on "Social Truth" on Saturday, adding that his administration is putting up a "wall against nuclear weapons" and that Iran will no longer have such a program.
He has also claimed that relations with Iran are at a better stage compared to past administrations and that "not a single dollar will pass from one side to the other."
However, more reserved statements have been made by the Iranian side. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has dismissed the possibility of the signing taking place on Sunday, stressing that the process is still open.
"We will have to wait and see for the exact date of signing the Memorandum of Understanding, although it will not be tomorrow. The possibility of this happening in the coming days is not ruled out," Baghaei stated.

According to him, caution should be exercised in public statements about deadlines, as the process depends on the positions of the parties and there is still no final consensus on the moment of signing.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose country has mediated the negotiations, has stated that the parties have reached agreement on a framework agreement and that the signing could happen very soon.
"With finalization expected within the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace agreement immediately," Sharif said, calling the process "historic."
He added that the agreement is intended to pave the way for technical talks next week and for a lasting peace in the region.
On the other hand, US and Iranian officials have signaled in recent days that a deal is close. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said it could be finalized this weekend, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed progress in the talks.
According to Araghchi, the agreement also covers other regional issues, including ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, as well as steps to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift economic blockades.
However, the situation on the ground remains tense. According to reports, US forces have shot down Iranian drones approaching the Strait of Hormuz, while US Central Command has confirmed that the waterway remains open.

In parallel, Israel has carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, ordering evacuations in several areas and causing casualties, according to local authorities.
The conflict in the region began after joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, and then expanded with the involvement of Hezbollah and Iranian responses to US military targets in the Persian Gulf.
