The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump has begun a meeting with his National Security Council.
Moments ago, a Marine stood outside the West Wing of the White House, indicating that the president was inside, the BBC reports.
The reason for the meeting has not been officially given, but it comes amid the crisis in the Middle East, as Israel and Iran have been attacking each other since Friday.
Meanwhile, US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce stated at a press conference on Tuesday that as the conflict between Israel and Iran continues, President Trump has been clear that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
Bruce added that the State Department has created a Middle East task force to help coordinate support for citizens and diplomatic missions.
She has reminded American citizens not to travel to Israel, Iraq or Iran.
Bruce explained that the task force involves people taking calls from American citizens around the world and making sure they get what they need.
