US President Donald Trump has criticized hiring under previous president Joe Biden regarding the plane crash that killed 67 people in the US.
Trump implied without evidence that Biden-era hiring was to blame for the collision of a regional jet with a US military helicopter at a Washington airport, the deadliest air disaster in more than 20 years, Reuters reported on Thursday.
The investigation into the accident has just begun and it is not yet clear why the plane collided with the Army Black Hawk helicopter as it was preparing to land at Washington's Reagan National Airport.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said both planes were flying in standard flight patterns and there was no breakdown in communications.
At a White House press conference, Trump criticized the helicopter pilots and said he did not know for sure whether the air traffic controllers involved were at fault or not.
"We don't know what led to this clash, but we have some very strong thoughts and ideas," he said.
