Trump revokes Harris and Clinton's access to classified information

Trump & Harris

The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump,  has revoked the right to access classified information from former Democratic rivals Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, as well as a number of former senior officials, the BBC reported.

Trump also stripped former President Joe Biden of these rights in February.

"I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the individuals named to have access to classified information," Trump's memo read.

Former US presidents and top security officials typically retain the right to access classified information.

Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Republican lawmakers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and former Russia adviser in the first Trump administration, Fiona Hill, are other names who have lost this right.

Earlier, Trump also removed this right from about 50 intelligence officials whom he accused of involvement in the 2020 election in favor of Biden, but has not provided evidence for this.

In 2021, Biden – who was serving as president at the time – stripped Trump of access to intelligence briefings, citing his “unpredictable” behavior.
