Trump picks new leaders for energy agencies

Nuclear Regulatory Commission

US President Donald Trump has nominated two Republicans to lead regulatory agencies that oversee nuclear power, natural gas and other energy infrastructure, reports say. "AP" agency. 

David Wright has been named chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), while Mark Christie will lead the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

The NRC oversees commercial nuclear power plants and other uses of nuclear materials. FERC oversees interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. It also reviews proposals to build natural gas terminals, a priority of Trump. 

Both are independent agencies, but members are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. 
Wright replaces Christopher Hanson and Christie replaces Willie Phillipis.
